Carl Dewhurst
Carl Dewhurst is an Australian jazz guitarist and composer. His playing joins fleet facility to a sympathetic ear for unusual textures, free improvisation and contemporary ensemble writing.
On Kaleidoscope (TP195) he is the guitarist and a co-composer with GEST8, a group that folds koto and live electronics into original Australian jazz. Reviewers have singled out his sizzling lines, the wonderful sounds he draws from the instrument, and his fleet negotiation of demanding harmonies on the title track, as well as the free miniature Nothing Like, which he co-wrote.
