Carl Orr
Carl Orr's jazz guitar favours a cleaner attack than classic fusion flash. As player and composer he works inside rhythm-rich contemporary groups, balancing detailed writing with room to improvise.
An Australian guitarist based in London since the 1990s, Orr has written and recorded original jazz for decades. Seeking Spirit earned an ARIA nomination for Best Jazz Album, and he was a member of the contemporary band Wanderlust. In quintets built around vibes, bass and drums his lines stay clear rather than overdriven, serving irregular meters and funk-leaning grooves as much as the solo spotlight. He has also worked widely as a sideman across jazz and pop.
