Craig Walters
Craig Walters is a jazz saxophonist and flautist noted for inventive, lyrical lines. His playing shapes light, propulsive ensemble textures that draw Indian classical, Latin and flamenco colours into jazz.
On Travelling On (TP061) he plays saxophones in a nylon-string guitar, saxophone and tabla trio whose programme pairs original pieces with standards. Reviewers singled out lines full of subtle invention and beauty within that unusual blend.
He also contributes saxophones and flute on Passion Fruit (TP106), another programme mixing jazz, Latin and Indian strands in a relaxed, melodic vein.
