Jeremy Rose
Jeremy Rose’s alto saxophone and Tango Suite for Compass lean into nuevo tango with saxophone quartet, accordion and guitar. The writing is lush and concert-minded; the playing sensual, precise and full of drama.
Rose works as saxophonist, bass clarinettist and composer across small groups and large ensembles. The Vampires, which he co-founded, has released albums including Pacifica and Nightjar and toured Australia, Europe and the United Kingdom. Intercultural projects include Vazesh, with Iranian tar player Hamed Sadeghi and bassist Lloyd Swanton, and Visions of Nar with pianist Zela Margossian. Project Infinity mixes jazz improvisation, minimalism, ambient music and electronics. For the Earshift Orchestra he has written narrative concert works such as Iron in the Blood, inspired by Robert Hughes’ The Fatal Shore, and Disruption! The Voice of Drums.
Performing as Compass

Abrazo Tango
Seductive and tantalising, this is the embrace of the tango: saxophones fused with the gypsy romance of the accordion. The sensual chemistry evokes the streets of Argentina, as played by these remarkable musicians.
