Milton Kaye
Milton Kaye (1909–2006) was an American pianist whose long career took in the United States premiere of Shostakovich’s First Piano Concerto, network television, and decades of chamber partnership.
In his nineties he recorded twice for Tall Poppies. On Brahms Violin Sonatas (TP172) his rhythmic poise and firm piano lead drew strong praise; the sessions were made in New York and mastered in Sydney.
His final recording was Cafe Fiddle (TP189), a programme of early twentieth-century salon encores and showpieces. That repertoire sat deep in his blood after a lifetime of accompanying major violinists, and the disc closes a long legacy of work on record.
Milton Kaye is featured on the following titles

Cafe Fiddle
After the success of his Tall Poppies Brahms sonatas with Milton Kaye, Australian violinist Ben Breen reunited with the veteran pianist for a second disc. Recorded near the end of Kaye’s life, it became the last chapter in the accompanist’s long recording career.

Brahms Violin Sonatas
Tall Poppies is proud to release this fine recording by talented young Australian violinist Ben Breen, then living in New York as a musician and sommelier. Breen has a special affinity with the Brahms sonatas, and here teams with veteran American pianist Milton Kaye.
