Phil Slater
Phil Slater is an Australian jazz trumpeter and composer whose playing and writing sit at the centre of contemporary improvised music. Based in the Illawarra, he has led award-winning projects and taught at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
He has been recognised with the Australian National Jazz Award, Bell Awards for artist and ensemble, a Limelight Award for outstanding contribution to Australian jazz, and the Freedman Fellowship. His own albums include The Dark Pattern and Immersion Lure.
On Move he is heard on Kaleidoscope (TP195), contributing trumpet and shared compositions within a contemporary Australian ensemble that folds jazz together with koto and electronics.
