Craig Ogden
Craig Ogden is an Australian classical guitarist whose albums have topped the UK classical charts. His Tall Poppies recording of Nigel Westlake's The Hinchinbrook Riffs sets guitar against digital delay in rippling, wave-like patterns.
Westlake's short work draws on early ideas later shaped into an eight-minute construct that celebrates Hinchinbrook Island with easy poetry. The guitar suits its caressing delicacy, mesmeric patterns and subtle rhythmic displacements created by the delay. Ogden has performed Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall.
