Greg White
Greg White shapes music through live computer interaction, sound manipulation and programming, often in dialogue with improvising instrumentalists. His work moves between composed electronic pieces and long-form interactive soundscapes.
With austraLYSIS Electroband he pits real-time algorithms and projected sound against saxophone, keyboards and voice. In the hour-long Memeing ex Cathedra he and Roger Dean guide streams of synthesis, samples and MIDI so ideas flourish, morph or disappear, holding tension and release across slowly shifting landscapes. Processual sets Sandy Evans skipping over synth clouds and taped loops that build toward a close-harmony climax. Fibonacci grew from his own improvisation. He also threads computer colour through GEST8’s jazz-and-koto mix, and his composed Orchid sits among two decades of WATT electronic works. Film and media composition and sound design sit alongside the concert work.
