Jenny Duck-Chong

Mezzo-soprano Jenny Duck-Chong is a versatile performer of classical and contemporary repertoire and artistic director of the Sydney new-music ensemble Halcyon.

She has worked on stage and in the studio with many of Sydney’s leading ensembles, among them Opera Australia, Pinchgut Opera, The Song Company, Cantillation, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Synergy Percussion, the Renaissance Players and the Kevin Hunt Jazz Trio, and has toured and performed in Australia, Europe and Asia.

An avid recitalist, she gives regular programmes of art song and chamber music. In the studio she has been a featured soloist and ensemble singer on film and television scores and on numerous recordings with Cantillation, Pinchgut Opera, The Song Company, the Renaissance Players, Halcyon and others, including Halcyon’s debut studio album Cool Black (MCD 396).

She is artistic director of the acclaimed new-music ensemble Halcyon, with which she has commissioned, premiered and performed Australian and international repertoire of the highest calibre for many years. A passionate advocate of vocal chamber music, she has led classes, seminars and workshops for secondary and tertiary students and staff, and has built lasting relationships with composers, performers and institutions in Australia and abroad.
