Jonathan Dimond
Jonathan Dimond is a Brisbane jazz musician and composer who plays six-string and fretless electric bass guitars and trombone. He is a member of the ensemble Artisans Workshop.
On the group’s debut, recorded at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in late 1992, he appears as both performer and composer. Original pieces sit beside free improvisation, with bass and trombone in constant dialogue with violin, saxophones and percussion.
His writing on the session includes Fusion of Elements, Tumble Dryer and Life Is a Symphony, alongside a co-composed free piece. The music moves between structured fusion and open improvisation, and was hailed at the time as among the strongest Australian jazz records of its period.
Performing as Artisans Workshop

Artisans Workshop
Artisans Workshop is a Brisbane-based group of young jazz musicians long used to working as one. That ease shows, and the sparks fly throughout this astounding debut. John Rodgers stands out as one of the most exciting violin improvisers anywhere.
