Jorge Morel
Jorge Morel wrote for the classical guitar with a blend of Latin American rhythm and jazz harmony. His Danza Brasiliera and other pieces have become part of the instrument's standard concert and chamber repertoire.
An Argentine composer and guitarist, he wrote with close attention to what the instrument can do under the hands, pushing past stock technical and stylistic habits. His catalogue runs from short dances and arrangements to chamber scores and concertos, among them Suite del Sur for guitar and orchestra. Guitarists worldwide have taken up the music in solo, duo and larger settings.
