Paul Cutlan

Paul Cutlan (b. 1964) is an Australian multi-instrumentalist, composer and improviser whose work spans contemporary classical music, jazz and world music. Bass clarinet and saxophone sit at the centre of a practice that moves freely between writing and performance.

Born in Hobart, Tasmania, Cutlan developed a passion for improvisation at high school. He studied clarinet and composition at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music, graduating in 1987 with Honours in Composition.
