Queensland Symphony Orchestra
Queensland Symphony Orchestra is the professional symphony orchestra of Queensland, based in Brisbane. It gave its first concert in 1947 and has become a central voice for orchestral music in the state.
In its early years the orchestra travelled widely through Queensland, playing in cities and towns far beyond Brisbane.
In 2001 it merged with the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra as The Queensland Orchestra, returning to the name Queensland Symphony Orchestra in 2010. Recordings issued under both names appear here, including Australian film and ballet scores and concertos taken from radio sessions.
