TALL POPPIES RECORDS New and classical music by Australian composers and performers

Robert Ingram

Robert Ingram’s violin brings elegant melodic invention to Mozart’s complete piano trios and vivid colour to Australian film and dance scores, from Westlake’s Antarctica to Koehne’s Nearly Beloved.

With Mozartrois he recorded the six completed piano trios plus the D minor KV 442 in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House. The playing is elegant and unforced, letting easy-going melodic invention speak. On Westlake’s Antarctica score he helps shape music that moves between yearning lyricism and the force of ice, from threnody and Scott’s theme to penguin scherzos and wooden ships. In Graeme Koehne’s Nearly Beloved he takes the violin line in waltzes, blues and elegy written for the Sydney Dance Company, chamber writing that sits between ballroom and night club.
