Sharon Calcraft
Sharon Calcraft is an Australian composer of contemporary chamber music. Her recorded work includes the intense seven-harp piece Sevenfold Amen and a German-language song for soprano, flute and cello.
Sevenfold Amen (2006), written for harp septet, is an abstract and concentrated work shaped by images of cicadas’ summer song and by the Book of Revelation. It appears as a world-premiere recording on Bolmimerie (TP204).
On Kingfisher (TP236) her Verathmende, Schillernde, Blitzende… sets words from a letter describing the changing moods of the sea. The song is atonal, with a disjunct line and spoken-sung delivery, and was written for the Halcyon anniversary commissions.

This CD is the result of a daring project to commission 21 composers to write new works for Halcyon's two singers, Jenny Duck-Chong and Alison Morgan. Presented over two concerts in their 15th anniversary year, and then recorded at Trackdown.
