TALL POPPIES RECORDS New and classical music by Australian composers and performers

Steve Reeves

Steve Reeves is a double bass player recorded in Australian chamber and concerto repertoire, heard both as a featured soloist and in ensemble bass parts.

On Suspended Preludes (TP171) he is the double bass soloist in Andrew Schultz’s cycle for bass and piano, a work that draws on quiet meditation as well as vigorous sliding, striking and slapping of the instrument.

He also plays bass on Horn Concertos (TP042), recorded in Melbourne with the Academy of Melbourne.

Performing as Academy of Melbourne

The Academy of Melbourne is a small chamber orchestra formed in 1989 by its artistic director, Brett Kelly, MSO principal trombone.
