Ann Ghandar: Piano Music

Ann Ghandar teaches composition at the University of New England in Armidale, New South Wales. A formidable pianist herself, she gave the first Australian performances of Messiaen’s Four Rhythmic Studies and of Ives’ Concord Sonata and First Sonata, and has presented many recitals worldwide.

She is the only pianist who has performed the complete piano music of Schoenberg in Australia. An authority on Middle Eastern music, she often writes in that harmonic sound-world, and she draws inspiration from nature, especially birds and water.

Ian Munro plays this music with utter affection. Ann joins him for the Little Suite and gives a marvellous performance of Photophoresis.
