Blue Sky Through Still Trees
Vanessa Sharman returns to the piano music of Tasmanian composer Don Kay in this second volume, with Sonatas Nos. 7 and 9. Recorded in the Salon at Melbourne Recital Centre, her playing catches the delicacy and emotion of these works.
Don Kay’s music is shaped by his environment and, in later years, by the death of his wife Frances.
When the first volume Bird Chants (TP210) appeared it was the first disc devoted to his work. This second volume is the second recording of his compositions. Vanessa Sharman is bringing Don’s music to the world with craft and close attention.
