Reviews
… an unending flow of gorgeous tone from Pereira … In David Bollard he has a fine partner
… a richly rewarding listening experience … the best cello playing you’ll hear for some time.
The performances are skilful and sympathetic. Their predominant quality is tenderness, a tenderness born … of strong sensitive control.
Restful, rich in warmth from the resonance on the cello and at times almost laughing from the keyboard, the skill of these players is never in doubt. Perfect relaxation listening at the end of a heavy day, it’s a disc to turn to regularly.

Composers

Antonín Dvořák
Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904) was a Czech composer whose music fused the folk rhythms and melodies of Bohemia and Moravia with the Romantic symphonic tradition, earning lasting international renown.

Gabriel Fauré
Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) was a French composer, pianist, organist and teacher whose music links late Romanticism with early modernism. His best-known works include the Requiem, the Pavane, and a large body of songs and piano music.

Zoltán Kodály
Kodály's music carries folk melody and eastern European colour into masses, solo cello works of fierce technical demand, and piano pieces that range from Debussian meditation to the storm of the Marosszék Dances.
Alexander Glazunov
Alexander Glazunov (1865–1936) was a Russian composer, teacher and conductor of the late Romantic period. His lyrical cello writing is best known through short character pieces such as the Chant du ménestrel and the Elégie.
A. Walter Kramer
A. Walter Kramer (1890–1969) was an American composer, music critic and music publisher.
Bohuslav Martinů
Bohuslav Martinů’s chamber music mixes folk-rooted melody with neo-classical drive: the Impromptu for violin and piano flashes with skittish dance and motor energy, while the Variations on a Slovak Theme give the cello a long, singing line of real warmth.
Joaquín Nin
Joaquín Nin's compositions and arrangements draw Spanish folk music into the recital room. His Suite Espagnole offers four short regional portraits of old Castile, Murcia, Asturias and Andalusia, written with a clear melodic line and piano colour.
